In 2000, the Albanese Organization was chosen to develop the first “green” high-rise residential tower in the United States. The Solaire at 20 River Terrace was designed to adhere to the strict environmental guidelines formulated by Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority. It was the first high-rise residential project to receive LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and was also honored with a Top Ten Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Committee on the Environment (COTE).
Environmentally responsible technologies make The Solaire one of the most energy efficient, healthy, comfortable, and resource efficient structures of its kind. Among the building’s benefits are highly filtered, conditioned, and humidified air in every residence, and substantial savings in electricity and water consumption.
